Quartier chinois

· 2 min read

I go to Montréal semi-regularly, like 2–3 times a year. These trips tend to be very short.

Just a quick there and back if I'm going to the Montréal Trudeau airport, or a day trip with the family where we leave in the morning and come home in time for dinner.

This week was the first time I actually spent a night in Montréal. Two nights, in fact. The hotel was located in the Quartier chinois (i.e. Chinatown), smack-dab in the city centre. Great location.

I don't have much to say about Montréal. I see a lot of hype for the city online, but I haven't fallen in love with it yet. I like that I get to practice my French, though.

Here are some pictures I took:

Rue de la Gauchetière, as it cuts through Chinatown, where it takes the form of a pedestrian zone. Lots of shops and restaurants.
View from the hotel room. I like how the snow, graffiti, and rooftop units create an urban landscape.
Mural by Onur, an artist based in Switzerland. His style is a sort of stylized photorealism. The light bulb apparently glows in black light, but there's no black light installation there anymore.
